We were able to obtain a residence permit for “Intra-company Transferee” status, which we accepted from a company operating a manufacturing business in Kobe City.
The content is the transfer of staff from an Indonesian subsidiary to the head office and factory in Kobe City.
This was the second intra-company transfer request for our client company, which also serves as a labor and social security attorney’s office.
We first received a concrete offer in early December 2023.
We received the documents from the company and the applicant sequentially from February 26, 2024.
From there, we proceeded with the paperwork and submitted an online application to the Immigration Bereau on March 16, 2024.
We were told that it might take about two months to receive the result, but on April 19, 2024, we were granted permission to stay in Japan without incident.
The period of stay was one year.
It took about 2 to 3 months for interviews and document collection, about 1 month for application preparation, and about 1 month from the application to the result.
The immigration bureau is very busy in March due to the concentration of cases, and I had the impression that it was taking longer than usual for other clients to be examined, so I was relieved to receive the results earlier than expected this time.
Currently, online application is available for intra-company transferee status of residence, which is more convenient than before.
With the online application, a “Certificate of Eligibility” is sent to you by e-mail. In the past, the company would send a paper copy of the Certificate of Eligibility to the applicant overseas, who would then go to the local embassy to apply for a visa to come to Japan.
Now that the application is online and the Certificate of Authorization is sent by e-mail, there is no need to send it overseas and it can be immediately forwarded to the applicant by e-mail.
The applicant prints out the email screen or presents the screen at the local embassy to apply for a visa to Japan.
Incidentally, the applicant must enter Japan within three months from the date the Certificate of Eligibility is issued.
The status of residence “Intra-company Transferee” is,
This is a work status mainly for temporary transfers from an overseas affiliate (parent company/subsidiary company, etc.) to a Japanese affiliate (parent company/subsidiary company, etc.).
The maximum period of stay is 5 years.
However, it is possible to renew the status, so it is possible to stay in Japan for a little longer.
The client’s company wanted the staff of the local subsidiary to study in Japan and also to spread the technology of the local subsidiary to the Japanese subsidiary.
